Bernie has had a bad season. I thought he'd rebound after last year's injury-plagued disappointment, but he didn't. Now it seems as if his biggest problem is age and not short-term injury.
Upon closer inspection, Bernie did have some good stats -- 104 runs scored, .358 on-base percentage, 84 walks isn't too bad.
But he's no longer a viable center-fielder, much less a gold glove center-fielder. So you've got a DH whose scoreboard stats are .260, 21 hrs, and 69 rbis.
But what I don't understand is the infantile analysis that seems to overtake grown men. Bernie's pseudo-dramatic game-winning homerun against the Twins is a nice moment, but how does it override the entire season?
While blogging is certainly egocentric by nature, I find it hard to believe that Bernie Williams is looking for an apology from some guy he doesn't even know:
"I have been awfully hard on Bernie at times this year, especially after watching him uncharacteristically complain about every called strike and watch flyballs drop in front of him without a care in the world, but he more than made up for his rather lackluster season with one swing of the bat last night. Hopefully last night's blast gives Bernie the kick in the pants he needs to be successful in the playoffs."
